Hi, I’m Joanne. I work in educational publishing as a managing editor, working on new project and content development. My area of focus for the last 10 years has been professional learning. We publish print books, ebooks, eguides (and combinations of ebooks and eguides) epubs, and online resources. Training originating from our department includes a primary focus on F2F but is fast evolving to include online learning components. Content topics are anything of interest to teachers, school leaders, and administrators--everything from assessment techniques through inclusive education and graphic organizers. During this period, I have witnessed a vast change in how we deliver content to best meet the changing needs of educators.
My reason for taking this course is to learn more about holistic learning in an online environment. We're familiar with how teachers can create environments that meet all of the needs of the students in their classrooms. I want to learn more about how this same environment can be created in an online environment. Just as our modes of content delivery have changed drastically so too are how we deliver this content to our clients. Online learning will grow exponentially in our industry and I want to understand it from the point of view of a learner and content developer.
Intermediate User
I consider myself to be an intermediate user of online tools. This is my fourth online course and I have worked in a several learning management systems. Our group ranges from new users through very experienced users. Together, we have collaborated to build this site to offer some assistance to you, the online learner, as you navigate your online course--whether it is your first course or you're an experienced online learner. Wherever you fall on that spectrum we hope that you find some of the material on this site helpful!
